Local percussionist Jonathan Alarcon (@jonadrums) plays us some Garifuna style drumming. Garifuna music and dance originates with the Afro-Indigenous Garifuna people from Central America. We were honored to have him play with us at Fridays at The Park Honduras to help us learn about and incorporate the indigenous music of that part of the world into our session.
Japan is one of my favorite places in the world for many reasons. One thing that always fascinates me are the extreme dualities you find in life and culture there. Ancient & future, modesty & flamboyance, extreme sexuality & repression, bureaucracy & magic. While shooting with my half frame camera on tour I caught this pair of photos. Mt. Fuji from the back yard of a small farm house bathed in the light of a beautiful day, and Matsumoto castle shaded in the darkness of rain clouds. The duality in the shots felt right in line with the extremes you find in Japanese life.
