the first time jesse and I ever had a conversation it was an hour and half+ video conference on a Sunday afternoon

we had a figma file open talking about base memetics and what the future could look like.

in that convo the term 'builder' was redefined to be more accurately inclusive to those that help build layer 2s such as base - with their goal of bringing 1b engaged individuals onto the chain.

since then Base has helped Leighton and myself get Based Management off the ground but there's been much deliberation on where this headless org best expresses itself.

personally I need aesthetics to align before I get to the real unlock on creative direction. this evening those pieces finally fell into place and I was reminded of this first conversation.

I tried this idea under a different name in 2021. The core of it stuck with me though; just felt like one of those experiments you had to see through.

At the time, L2s, Fabric, GPT, and Perplexity were not familiar or even around yet. Midjourney was in it's 'gathering data' output phase.

Now the serendipity machine puts it back on my plate. The fifth and final project (for now). A healthy balance to cycle through, diverse enough as to properly leverage 'ruts', while covering the bases I like to run on.

Shadows, next to BM, is the longest time horizon project I'm currently working on. Thanks to Fabric the pacing will be approachable and items will be delivered at the same increment.

Core of the idea is to have a story told to me. Not for me to tell a story. And thanks to the tech stack, I can truly let my imagination creative direct, letting ai fill in the pages.

it's not a matter of mortal sins or common sense degradations of human dignity. it's a question about power and influence.

I enjoy 'meta'. The abstract that pervades the seemingly mundane. The influential in the often marked insignificant. It's like playing telephone with God for me.

so when the words 'business' or 'brand' or 'markets' are throw across conversational aisles they typically mean something entirely unique to me. I am looking for clues in this game I've been playing.

LGHT (man how I wish I was a few years earlier for light lol) - I have made peace with the meme -- light without the 'I'; meaning the dualistic particle and wave abstraction that helps heat the earth, nourish the plants, and reveals the darkness. And it's expression best funneled without 'I' (hence pseudonymity)

But business is booming, thank god. I have found a place in this wild industry, and I need an insignia. A meme that touches the 'meta'.

when Leighton and I first talked about management we came away with a clear north star - let it be emergent

after fucking around and finding out a bunch we've stumbled into some interesting territory. which requires more careful consideration on the branding of it.

More and more the purple app feels like digital Paris. Things to see, places to go, art, literature, culture.

And in the back alleys cigarette smoke fills the air, and memecoins are gambled on to multimillion dollar market caps.

It's a onchain city unlike anything out there... and it's just getting started.

543 days to unwind the hope of an idea. To get to a starting point of substance. It is crazy, not just seeming to be crazy. Yet I don't know how to be anything other than me.

There have been many opportunities put in front of me over the last couple of years. Conversations in rooms I would've never guessed I'd be privileged enough to attend. And in each of those moments the things that matter to me tend to resurface in my mind.

When I discovered 'web3' my intuition started screaming at me. "There is something life changing here for creatives, for the untraditional, for those with high agency."

Art3 Lotus - a play on the term web3 and my personal definition of 'art being any creation endeavor'. It felt like 'it', but it wasn't.

Then came 'hypercultures', closer but still too broad. Then the 'hyperstack', a more comprehensive illustration indeed.

Then I went on podcasts and used the opportunity to refine and stress test the thinking. Something of substance had been found but my intuition still felt a deep longing.

This month I randomly illustrated a 'hypersphere' - my personal creative circadian. And then I had a flash of insight on a better articulation of 'the spectrum'. Dominoes were in flow; leading to a graphic of 'constraints'.

When I sat in front of my figma files today to work on Zaibs I realized "holy shit I think I found all the starting puzzle pieces I needed back then."

So much work. And good work begets more good work. This is a small celebration though. From me to me.
