This hummingbird, embodied as Maro Dori, symbolizes the profound value of harmonious elegance within its diminutive form, reflecting Michiko's deep reverence for the natural world.

Initially, Michiko meticulously painted it using a traditional facial brush and classic mediums like sumi ink. Subsequently, she utilized Procreate to integrate digital effects, resulting in a seamless fusion of analog and digital techniques, as well as a harmonious blend of tradition and modernity.

Embark on a journey into the heart of the tropics with the unique essence of a noble bird Maro Dori amid lush paradise. Created at the age of 13.

Long ago in ancient Kyoto, there lived a noble bird named Maro Dori.

This exceptional bird had distinct oval-shaped eyebrows that symbolized its nobility.

Maro Dori had a deep appreciation for beauty and culture, and he especially loved the color purple, which echoed the essence of Kyoto's rich heritage.

In this summer, Michiko experienced a heart-wrenching departure as she bid farewell to her beloved bird, Tete-chan, who had been her companion since birth. Tete-chan had served as a profound source of inspiration for the creation of Maro Dori, an imaginary bird adorned with traditional Japanese-style makeup that symbolizes nobility.

To cope with her grief, Michiko warmly welcomed a new small bird, Coco-chan, whose irresistible cuteness reignited her creative spark. Now, Coco-chan, in the form of Maro Dori, perches gracefully atop a sunflower, exuding the vibrant essence of summer vibes!
