The image shows rainbow mushrooms on a rainbow background.  Rainbow mushrooms are a type of mushroom characterized by a shiny multicolored cap resembling the color of a rainbow.   One of these mushrooms, also known as the "glass umbrella", was discovered in 2014 by Japanese scientist Satoko Yamato. It is found only deep in the Amazon rainforest, where it grows on woody debris such as branches and bark.   Other examples of rainbow mushrooms:  Elaeomyxa Cerifera. It is also called the amethyst mushroom. It was first discovered in 1942. Rainbow mushrooms, by splitting their bodies to form spores, secrete hispidin, which makes them glow.  Rainbow mushrooms can be used in cooking. They have a strong, unique and earthy taste. They are often used to make cheese or add to meat to enhance the flavor.   Rainbow mushroom extract is being studied as a possible treatment for diseases such as cancer or stroke. Chinese traditional medicine considers rainbow mushroom as the key to achieving a healthy lifestyle.
