Porsche 356 Sports Car The first car of the German company Porsche. The Porsche 356 was a rear-wheel drive, rear-engined sports car, available in two body versions - with a rigid or retractable top. Production began in 1948 in Gmund, Austria, where about 50 machines were built. In 1950, the factory was moved to Stuttgart, Germany; the main production of the 356 model continued until April 1965, when it was replaced by the Porsche 911 model, introduced in the fall of 1963.
