The practice of taking human heads as warfare trophies or during ritualistic sacrifice to bring about agricultural prosperity was ubiquitous throughout Pre-Columbian cultures. Headhunting added a significant magical and supernatural dimension to warfare and sacrifice. Each severed head was imbued with specific meaning and the act of taking the head was consecrated and commemorated in some form.

This is my last work in the collection published for the Andamio studio collective drop.

The collection featured a series of images made from digital collages and actions programmed in Photoshop, which emulated a painted painting.

Toriis symbolizes the gateway to the spiritual world, the separation between the sacred and the profane. This soundscape narrates the life of a samurai who finds in the Toriis his amulet of protection and connection with his ancestors. He fights, knowing that one day he will cross that gate ⛩

When I feel fear and need refuge, I turn to my most precious treasures:
-A cat to hug
-My grandmother's pin
-A candle that illuminates my darkness
And in this way everything becomes home

A friend, a conversation, a shared afternoon, a hug. Everything with friends is better
