The image shows the Hamburg Town Hall in Hamburg, Germany. Hamburg City Hall (Hamburger Rathaus) is the seat of the local government (Senate) and parliament of the free Hanseatic city of Hamburg. Location: in the center of Hamburg, in the Altstadt quarter, on Rathausmarkt Square, near Lake Binnenalster and the central station. History: The old Hamburg Town Hall was destroyed by the Great Hamburg Fire of 1842, and the construction of the new one took almost 44 years. The building was designed by a group of seven architects led by Martin Haller. Architecture: The exterior of the town hall is built in the Neo-Renaissance style. It is one of the few completely preserved buildings of historicism in Hamburg.
