On 12 October 2022, Iranian teenager Asra Panahi (Persian: اسراء پناهی, born on 2007 was killed during the Mahsa Amini protests in the city of Ardabil.She was among a group of students at Shahed Girls High School who are reported to have refused to join a pro-government demonstration and perform the "Salam Farmandeh" song.The students are reported to have been beaten by plainclothes security forces summoned to the school. Panahi died at Fatemi Hospital in Ardabil after sustaining severe injuries.
Mahsa Amini traveled to Tehran in September 2022. On Tuesday, September 13th, she was arrested by the Guidance Patrol near Shahid Haghani Metro Station. After being transferred to the detention center, two hours later, Mahsa Amini was taken to the building of the Moral Security Police in Vozara Street, Tehran. Due to injuries to her skull, she became brain-dead and later died in the ICU of Kasra Hospital. Mahsa's death at the hands of the Islamic Republic's regime sparked the "Women, Life, Freedom" movement protests in Iran.
