The Astrakhan Kremlin is a historical and architectural complex, a branch of the State Budgetary Cultural Institution of the Astrakhan Region "Astrakhan Museum-Reserve", a fortress in Astrakhan, built on the site of the first fortifications that appeared in connection with the transfer of the city in 1557-1558 by the governor I. S. Cheremisinov. The Astrakhan Kremlin complex is a complete ensemble of monuments of defensive architecture, religious and civil architecture and includes 22 objects from the 16th - early 20th centuries. By the Resolution of the Council of Ministers of the RSFSR dated August 30, 1960 No. 1327, the Astrakhan Kremlin was accepted for state protection as a historical and architectural monument of federal significance.
