This piece is in no way a mockery of the original art piece “The Comedian” made by the great Italian artist 𝑴𝒂𝒖𝒓𝒊𝒛𝒊𝒐 𝑪𝒂𝒕𝒕𝒆𝒍𝒂𝒏, presented at Miami’s Art Basel 2019 but quite the opposite. It's my tribute to both, the piece and the artist, which I highly admire.
As is the original, at least in my eyes a reminder of the sacred rule "Art is what the artist says it's art" and "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" or even more reminder of the fact that "Value is in the buyer's wallet size". So is this piece, my statement, with a touch of humour and irony, of today's "perception" of art, especially art presented as NFT.
At the same time, it's a tribute to UNDRGRND and its founder @nftjoe. Everybody thinks running this kind of project and its token is easy and low effort, but when you take a look behind the scenes and see how much hard work Joe has put in and how many obstacles he had to overcome, you can't keep but wonder how come he hasn't gone bananas.
