I sat with the pain, stared it in the face, took my dog to a christmas market, transmuted loneliness into holy aloneness and ended up at a performance evening.
Every single artist had grounded presence, self abandon and ownership all at once.
Life slapped me in the face, hugged old friends, danced in the void and “woke up like dis”.

Here we go: Spotify Wrapped can be “fun” for some but it leads me to internal screaming every year when it happens. If Spotify would pay artists appropriately, we independent artists, could live APPROPRIATELY making music for the people that loves our music.
For real for real. My yearly streams would cover my rent, food and studio in Berlin comfortably. If stream platforms didn’t operate as they do, I’d have already recouped the 120.000 Euros in advances for the total of for 4 albums I’ve released with my old label between 2003 and 2013. We need legislation asap. We

Chicken just turned 2 and is finally at the age that the vet said that he should get his Cryptorchidism surgery.

Pet insurances don’t cover congenial defects unfortunately.

Additionally to the surgery, Chicken needs new scans of his testicles to confirm the location of the missing testicle for surgery and to check if it has gone cancerous because undescended testicles can go cancerous real fast.

Chicken also needs heart scans before the surgery because his heart is an enlarged due to a valve issue. Because of Chicken’s enlarged heart, this surgery becomes high risk.

Each scan is about 200 Euros and the surgery costs around 600 Euros. So, just the scans + surgery = 1000 Euros.

I’ve set a goal of 1500 Euros in the GoFundMe to have a buffer should Chicken need any in-patient care or extra out-patient care in this process of getting Chicken’s surgery underway and free from cancer risks ❤️

Any excess funds of this GoFundMe will go redistributed to other dogs needing health support.

Curation and criticality really are the skills of our time. If anything, generative AI is opening the doors to artistic overwhelm as we are faced with mountains of outputs as generative art materials to be collaged and carved to be collaged and carved again. Knowing when to stop and curate from self is one thing. Having enough time as a single human in the face of all this is quite another.
One thing is for certain, we need more music professional oriented AI tools than “wow just prompt your whole album right here” tools. The joy and the desire to craft with your own subjective signature is not going away of art is your heart and craft. Generating and leaving it works when conceptual about it, for anything else, at least within me, it is another mountain of art material that I must climb without enough limbs.

Stems were extracted using Moises AI and Fadr, with the final arrangement mastered on LANDR, an AI mastering platform.
